Cosmic Flora: Original Paintings Where Night Sky Meets Wildflower Field

The Idea Behind the Work

Every painting I make circles back to the same question: what does it look like to grow somewhere uncertain? A seed does not wait for guarantees before it opens. It blooms into whatever light and dark are already there.

That is the throughline of Cosmic Flora. The flowers are not blooming despite the vast, dark space around them, they are blooming because of it. It is a visual language for starting over, for growth that happens in the middle of uncertainty rather than after it resolves. That idea sits at the center of how I make art and, honestly, how I try to do life.

There is an older symbolism underneath this too. Across many traditions, the sky is cast as the father, vast, distant, and immovable, while flowers carry the feminine, soft, cyclical, always dying back and returning. Cosmic Flora sits the two directly on top of each other. The blooms hold their ground against that vastness, not by being small or quiet within it, but by growing despite it, the same way we bloom despite patriarchy rather than because it made room for us.

What the Cosmic Flora Series Is

Cosmic Flora is a collection of large scale original paintings, each 60 by 40 inches, made with acrylic and mixed media on canvas. Deep indigo and charcoal grounds hold dense clusters of blue, pink, and white blooms, with veins of teal and green running through the darkness like something half botanical, half nebula. Fine speckled points of white sit across the whole surface like starlight caught in the paint. The effect is a wildflower field caught mid bloom against deep space, part botanical, part celestial.

Up Close, It Reads Like a Star Field

Photographed at full scale, Cosmic Flora reads as flowers against sky. Up close, it becomes something else, a dense field of blue and teal texture, flecked white like scattered stars, with soft pink bloom clusters emerging out of the dark. Every fleck and layer is built by hand, which is part of why a photo of the whole piece can only tell you so much. This is the kind of detail that rewards standing in front of the actual canvas, or at minimum, seeing it zoomed in before you buy.

Living With a Statement Scale Painting

At 60 by 40 inches, a Cosmic Flora original is built to anchor a room rather than sit quietly in it. These pieces work well above a bed, a sofa, or as the single focal point on an accent wall where the painting can hold the space on its own.

Because each piece ships unstretched and rolled in a protective tube, you have full control over the final presentation. Many collectors prefer this, since it means choosing a local framer and finish that matches their own space exactly, rather than receiving a painting already framed to someone else's taste.

A print reproduces an image. An original holds the actual layers of acrylic and mixed media, the texture built up stroke by stroke over the course of the painting. Each Cosmic Flora piece is the only one of its kind. Once it sells, that exact painting will not exist anywhere else.
