Katie Shapiro has been making art since she could hold a brush. But like so many creatives, she was conditioned to get a degree in something practical and a job in a field that was "dependable". 

So she built a successful career in community relations, had a side hustle as a life coach, fell in love, and started a family. After the birth of her first child she made the brave choice to step back from her career and focus on motherhood, with plans to grow her coaching practice.

Then COVID arrived coinciding with a second pregnancy. Being a stay at home mother was much harder than she had imagined, especially pregnant with a two year old to take care of, during the pandemic.  In 2022, life took another unexpected twist, with her husband's job moving the family from Southern California to the English countryside.

Seemingly in an instant, everything was different. Expat life with two small children, a new culture, and a timezone that made her coaching business nearly impossible to sustain, was disorienting and humbling. In time, life settled, the children began school, and Katie found herself inside a beautiful house, surrounded by rolling hills, grazing horses and the stunning flowers of English gardens.  For the first time in her life, Katie had space, a bit of time and more importantly a place to paint - where she could leave her easel up, her supplies out and dabble as she wished. That was two years ago. She has painted nearly every day since.

Today, her work - vibrant, layered, and alive with color, embodies joy, the natural world, and the metaphysical energy that moves through all of us. It is the art of a woman who waited a long time to arrive.

Her originals, studies, and fine art prints are collected by homeowners, interior designers, and collectors worldwide, who like Katie, believe in the power of consciously creating our environment. As well as that what we choose to hang on the walls of the spaces and places in which we live, profoundly impacts us on all levels - mental, emotional, physical and spiritual.

Katie accepts a limited number of commissions each year and sells her work exclusively via this website.
