Close your eyes and you can almost hear it. That Beach Boys song drifting out of a car radio on a warm summer afternoon, somewhere in the late eighties or early nineties, before smartphones, before social media, before the world got quite so loud.
Kokomo is a feeling. It is the colors and shapes of a childhood I carry with me, the warmth, the simplicity, the joy of a time when life felt a little more carefree. In today's world I think a lot of us are quietly longing for that. This painting is my way of bringing a little of it back.
Fully abstract and wonderfully versatile, Kokomo can be hung in portrait orientation as shown, or turned on its side in landscape. Either way it works beautifully.
