Roundabouts & Redondo | Large Navy and Teal Abstract Painting | Katie Shapiro Art

Roundabouts & Redondo is a bold, graphic original abstract painting. Stacked blocks of teal, aqua, sunshine yellow, and coral rise up the canvas like a row of beach huts, while looping navy and white marks circle and spiral around them, part roundabout, part seaside bunting, part rolling surf.

Painted in my studio in Bath, England, this piece is a playful nod to the winding roads and roundabouts of the England, and the sand and sunshine of Redondo Beach in LA, where I used to live. The sunshine and the rain. The roundabouts and the strand.

Built up in layers of mixed media, then scraped back to reveal glints of gold beneath the teal, the surface is full of texture and energy that rewards a closer look.  Even on a cloudy day, we need to remember the sun is still there shining.

Roundabouts & Redondo is a striking vertical statement piece. It's perfect for an entryway, stairwell, dining room, or any wall that needs confident colour, and its navy, teal, and yellow palette works beautifully in coastal, contemporary, and Scandinavian interiors.
